Masterworks Series

Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

Inspire your soul with two passionate, yet exquisite sonatas on the piano: Sonata in F Minor by Brahms and Sonata in F minor by Schumann. These sonatas were written when Brahms was falling in love and Schumann was losing his sanity. Bring anyone that wishes to rejuvenate their soul to this larger-than-life concert. Michael Steven Lianos will be the pianist.

Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra

Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Kaplan Parish Hall

Join us for the opening concert of the 15th season of the Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra.  Under the direction of Paul Lindsay, the orchestra will perform works by Leroy Anderson, Bartok, Delius, and Faure.

Trinity Organ Series

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for the opening concert of the 8th season's Trinity Organ Series with Martin Sunderland, Organist and Music Director at at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach VA.  Reception following. 

Dr. Sunderland has degrees in organ performance from Pennsylvania State University and Yale University and a doctorate in Music Education from  the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. 

 

Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols

Join with the young choristers, bell choir, and parish choir of Saint Bede in this beautiful candlelit service of choral music, scripture readings, and traditional congregational hymns of the season.

 

Virginia Symphony Holiday Brass

Friday, December 14, 2018 at 8:00 p.m.

The bold sounds of the Virginia Symphony Brass section ring in the holidays with a blast!  Experience the festive sounds of the season in a concert filled with wit, virtuosity, and the glorious music of the holidays- featuring the VSO brass and percussion sections.  You'll enjoy music from a variety of styles that make this concert one holiday delight you won't want to miss!  Parking is limited, please consider carpooling.  Tickets can be purchased through the Virginia Symphony at www.virginiasymphony.org.

 

The King's Singers

Trinity Organ Series

Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Wolff von Roos, Associate Organist/Music Scholar at Broadway United Methodist Church, Indianapolis IN will perform.  The program will include an improvisation based on audience-provided Christmas themes.  Reception following.

A native of Germany and raised in the United States, Wolff von Roos is a young and active recitalist and has performed in venues from Indiana to Washington D.C.  Wolff is currently perusing his Bachelor Degree in Music Performance at Ball State University in Muncie, IN where he majors in organ performance under the direction of Dr. Stephen Price (formerly Raul Prieto Ramirez), and minors in jazz guitar performance with Joel Tucker of the Tucker Brothers. He has also studied at the Pipe Organ Academy at McGill University in Montreal, QC with Professor Hans Ola- Ericcson and concert organist Katlyn Emerson.

Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra

Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Kaplan Parish Hall

Join us for the second concert of the season with the Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra.  Guest pianist, Beatrice Soderberg of New York will perform with the orchestra "Concerto No. 1 in C Minor" by Dmitri Shostakovich.  The free concert will also include the "Brandenburg Concerto No. 2" by J.S. Bach.

Trinity Organ Series

Christopher Martin, Director of Music and Organist at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Richmond VA will perform.  Reception following.

As Director of Music he leads the church's music ministry which includes three singing choirs, a handbell choir, and an annual concert series.  Christopher holds a Master of Sacred Music degree in organ performance from Boston University's School of Theology and a Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Having performed extensively throughout the East Coast as a concert organist, Christopher is also in demand as an organist for numerous choral ensembles throughout the Richmond area.

 

Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra

Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Kaplan Parish Hall

Join us for season closing concert of the Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra.  The ever popular "Future Artists Concert" includes 13 year old Gale Szczypkowski performing the "Paganini Violin Concerto No. 1".  She will be joined by her triplet siblings in the Vivaldi Concerto.  Don't miss this extraordinary concert featuring extraordinary young people.

Join us for the closing concert of the 8th season's Trinity Organ Series with Cheryl Van Ornam, Traditional Music Director at Redeemer Lutheran Church and Organist at First Church of Christ Scientist, Richmond VA.  In addition, she serves as adjunct faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Reception following.

Her master’s degree in Organ Performance and Church Music is from Northwestern University. She is active with the American Guild of Organists in Chicago, Boston and the Richmond, Virginia Chapter.
