Celebrate Bach's Birthday! Organist Cheryl Van Ornam will present a Lenten concert featuring the music of those composers that influenced Johann Sebastian Bach, and those composers whom he later influenced. She has given recitals on the Midmer-Losh Organ at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City; in Los Angeles at First Congregational Church and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels; Busch Hall and King’s Chapel in Boston; and Northwestern University’s Alice Millar Chapel. In Virginia, she has performed recitals at Bruton Parish Church (Colonial Williamsburg), St. John’s Episcopal Church, Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and the 25th Anniversary of the Installation of the Dobson organ at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. In addition to recitals, she has been privileged to play the organ at All Saints' Church in Wittenberg (where Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses), and the Trost organ at Altenburg Castle, which J.S. Bach played. She has participated in two “Organ Spectacular” concerts, one in Chicago and one in Richmond; and, participated in the 40th annual Bach Marathon at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She has made a CD with Tracey Welborn, tenor, and William Balz, pianist. An organ duet performance was featured on Pipedreams Program No.1752 where she performed “Balboa Bolero” by Joe Utterback with Elizabeth Melcher Davis. Further study has been at Haarlem Summer Organ Academy, Smarano Organ Academy, Leipzig Organ Academy, and McGill Summer Organ Academy. She has been active with the American Guild of Organists in Chicago, Boston and Richmond, where she was the Dean. Cheryl and her husband are the proud grandparents of three young children!

Enjoy the 1927 silent film "The King of Kings" accompanied and brought to life by acclaimed theater organist Tom Hoehn. Being used to earth-shaking surround sound, vivid colors, and jaw-dropping special effects of the 21st Century Hollywood, this concert will take you back 96 years in film history. This 112 minute silent film leads the viewer in the events that lead to Christ's crucifixion and resurrection superbly told by one of Hollywood's greatest directors, Cecil B. DeMille. Mr. Hoehn will use all of the varying sounds of our 54 rank pipe organ to make present this biblical story. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience this free silent film with live organ accompaniment. Tom Hoehn was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and started playing organ as a child in the 1960’s. He started playing in church while still in elementary school playing for school masses. He later began playing all Sunday Masses at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in St. Joseph, MO. He studied classical organ locally as well as popular (home) organ while at home. He has participated in Master Class studies with Dr. John Obetz (UMKC Conservatory) and Dr. James Moesser (Kansas University). He moved to Florida in 1974 as the organist at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa. In 1977 he was named as one of the four original organists at J. Burns’ Pizza and Pipes in Tampa along with Don Baker, Mark Crittenden and Jim Moshier. During his tenure at Pizza and Pipes he studied with Don Baker. During this time he also appeared as the stadium organist for Tampa Bay Rowdies Soccer (NASL). He was also named organist for the Florida State Fair Association and provided music for entertainers, fashion shows and horse shows. In 1981 he moved to Winter Haven, Fl, to open the second J. Burns’ Pizza and Pipes. He remained there until 1985. From 1981 thru 1987 he was the organist at Chain-O-Lakes park, the site of Boston Red Sox Spring Training during that period. He has appeared at the Tampa Theatre in Tampa, FL playing for pre-shows on Saturdays. He has appeared at the Polk Theatre in Lakeland, FL as pre-show organist for the Smothers Brothers. He composed and recorded the sound track for the puppet animation film Harker in 2005 at the Polk Theatre in Lakeland. Tom appeared at the ATOS National convention in Tampa in 2006 playing the Don Baker Memorial Wurlitzer at Lake Brantley High School. He has recently performed at the Senate Theatre in Detroit and the Temple Theatre in Meridian, Mississippi. Mr. Hoehn appeared at Roaring 20’s Pizza and Pies in Ellenton, Florida, playing the 4m/42 rnk Wurlitzer. Tom has played for the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Mr Hoehn regularly performs at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona scoring silent films for their arts department. He also is a regular silent film artist at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. He currently serves as organist at First United Methodist Church in Clearwater, Florida.
