Mission and Stewardship

‘Be hospitable to one another without complaining. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.’   1 Peter 4:9-10

Connecting all people with the Word of God in Jesus Christ has been a hallmark of Saint Bede Catholic Church since the founding of our parish in the early 1900’s. We have grown from a Catholic College Chapel in 1932, to a thriving community of thousands of disciples who form disciples in order to grow together in Word, Worship, Community, Service, and Evangelization. Discipleship gives meaning to our lives. Our discipleship is brought to life through the celebration of the Eucharist, prayer, and by service to others. Saint Bede is blessed with parishioners who with their time, talent, and treasure generously support the ministries that touch thousands of lives. Changing and growing into the likeness of Christ is not just greater knowledge of our faith, but doing what God’s Word says. Here are a few ways we carry out our discipleship:

Did you know?

  • Our Williamsburg House of Mercy (formerly Saint Bede Outreach) serves over 2,300 needy clients each year

  • Our Hope Pregnancy Care Center supports women through pregnancies and the care of newborn babies

  • Over 3,000 families and 7,300 individuals in the parish

  • 54,000 hours of volunteer service provided annually

Our Faith Formation programs serve all of our parishioners through introduction to the person of Christ and providing concrete ways to grow in discipleship:

  • 587 children and youth in faith formaiton activities including work camp

  • 635 Adults in Faith Formation activities including bible studies and small groups

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. Our parish preaching, messages and actions that inspire discipleship help to demonstrate relevance of the Bible for our daily lives.
