Parish Nurse Ministry

Saint Bede Parish is pleased to offer a Parish Nurse Ministry. Our three parish nurses, Coordinator Barbara Anderson, RN, MSN, Carol Bonesteel, RN,CCM, and Ann Marie Bouley, RN, BS have completed the Bon Secours Parish Nurse Program for the primary reason of providing professional care that encompasses body, mind and spirit.

All parishioners are encouraged to complete a brief "Needs Assessment Survey", available on the information table outside the Nursery, so that the Parish Nurses can design programs based on the needs and desires of our parishioners. Please help our Parish Nurses fulfill their sincere intentions to provide you with the information and support that will be most helpful to you. You may contact a Parish Nurse by calling 229-7844, a private phone line, or by e-mailing them directly at parishnurse@bedeva.org. All communications are confidential.

The Parish Nurse is a visible symbol of the healing ministry that embraces the whole person – body, mind and spirit. As a qualified health care professional, the parish nurse helps to enhance the stewardship of life and health.

Parish Nurses are…

  • Health Educators - As health educators, parish nurses teach individuals responsible self-care pertaining to physical, spiritual and emotional health. This is achieved through a variety of methods which may include individual appointments, classes, group discussions, articles, posters, and health promotional materials.

  • Health Counselors - As a personal health counselor, the parish nurse provides presence and prayer to aid people in making informed decisions about their health care. Assessments, screenings, and referrals may be provided.

  • Referral Sources - The parish nurse acts as liaison for parishioners wanting or needing community support services and/or the professional services of parishioner volunteers within the parish nurse ministry.

  • Facilitators - As a facilitator, the parish nurse develops support groups as interests and needs evolve.
