Welcome
February, 2010
My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
February has extended a very wintry greeting to Williamsburg; however, as we turn our sights ahead, we look toward Lent to bring us through to the joy of Easter. I wish to bring to mind some of our upcoming events.
- Lent begins on Wednesday, February 17th. We will have three Masses with distribution of ashes at 7:00 am, 9:00 am and 7:00 pm.
- On Thursday, February 18th the Virginia Symphony returns for an 8:00 pm Concert.
- Friday, February 19th is the first of our Friday Lenten Soup Suppers. Parishioners are invited to attend these light Lenten meals and stay for stations of the Cross, which follow at 7:00 pm. Different ministries will be your hosts for the evening.
- Father Gabriel Pivarnik will return for our Parish Lenten Mission which begins with the Saturday Vigil Mass on February 27th. Father will have another inspiring theme for our contemplation during this time of renewal. In conjunction with the Mission, we will have our Lenten Reconciliation Service on Tuesday, March 2nd at 7pm.
- Our Women’s Day of Recollection will be lead again by Mary Ann Massey on March 6th in the Parish Center. It is always a pleasure to welcome her back for her inspiration and insight.
- The Shroud of Turin Bede Lecture was postponed and is back on the calendar for March 8th at 7:00 pm in the Commons.
May you know many blessings during this prayerful season of Lent.
