Ascension of the Lord
May 4, 2008
Pastor’s Message
Dear Members of Saint Bede,
Today we celebrate the
solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord and the Seventh Sunday of
Easter. When given the opportunity to transfer the celebration of
this feast to the following Sunday, the bishops of the Baltimore
Province chose to do so; therefore, we celebrate the Ascension today.
At the 9 a.m. Mass, we will crown the statue of our Blessed Mother,
and all during the month of May, our second graders will be making
their First Communion at various Masses.
Next Sunday, we will celebrate
the solemn feast of Pentecost and the end of the Easter Season. I
invite you to wear red, as it is the color symbolic of the fire of
the Holy Spirit. After the 5 p.m. Mass on Sunday, our Youth Ministry
will host its second annual Pentecost Potluck. All parishioners are
welcome to stay for fellowship and food in the Commons and on the
portico. Please bring a dish to share!
Yours in the Risen and Ascended
Lord,

Father John A. Abe

The
PROLIFE Across AMERICA Project of the Saint Bede Friends For
Life Committee: Funding has progressed to the point that strategic
sites can be explored relative to the placement of billboards.
Major traffic arteries leading to known abortion mills or tax
supported Planned Parenthood facilities are the most desirable.
As the billboard comes to fruition, it will join over 600 others
erected across America so far in 2008. In 2007, over 6000 billboards
were erected in 41 states. Please consider assisting us with
this project by picking up an envelope in front of the PROLIFE
Across AMERICA display on the information table by the nursery.
Watch the Sunday bulletins for progress reports and the Saint
Bede Newsletter for additional details. Pray for the end of the
horrors of abortion.
